I really like how the story is going. It's sweet and sad at the same time. Aw, and now I want to see Alfred find Mattie! Though the last line makes me bite my nails cuz it makes me think something bad will eventually happen between them that makes Arthur regret caring for him. (And isn't that the way these stories always go?)
